Composition of the Medical Council
The Medical Council comprises of a total of 22 members with the following breakdown, namely:-
• 14 registered medical practitioners of whom 8 are public officers and the remaining 6 are persons who are not public officers. Of the 8 public officers, 4 are general practitioners and 4 are specialists. As the 6 members who are not public officers, 3 are general practitioners and 3 are specialists;
• 5 persons who are appointed by the Minister and are not medical practitioners;
• one representative of the Ministry of Health & Quality of Life who is a medical practitioner;
• one representative of the State Law Office;
• one representative of the Prime Minister's Office;
